ACADEMIA
Our research interests lie in the following topics:
Sensors: E-nose & E-tongue
Our group focuses on developing open QCM sensors based on highly stable surface-mounted metal-organic frameworks (SURMOFs) with different functionalities for the detection of harmful gases, including formaldehyde, acetone, toluene, etc.
Superhydrophobic Surfaces
Our group intends to establish different MOF/SURMOF systems with superhydrophobicity for specific applications.
Catalysis
We attempt to successfully immobilize different enzymes inside the pores possessed by large-pore MOFs such as Nu-1000. In this way, the enzymes are fully exploited in cell-free biocatalysis due to their stabilization.
Water purification and gas separation systems
Our team aims to synthesize MOFs/SURMOFs with different pore functionalities to be tailored for the adsorption of pollutants from water such as heavy metals, organic molecules, antibiotics, etc. In addition, several MOFs/SURMOFs are targeted to work in the separation of different gases, including hydrocarbons, hydrogen isotopes, etc.
